jumped in his sleep

So, one more final to go (tomorrow morning) and my first term will be over! I am soooo looking forward to this break and hanging out with Isaac. I might bring him to daycare on Thursday and Friday though, because I have a big research project I have to do a lot of work on, and I'd rather just get a lot of it done up front rather than have to work on it all throughout this long-awaited break. So, that's the plan.

Isaac has finally figured out how to jump in the jumper, and he really enjoys it. So much so, that he fell asleep while jumping several times over the weekend.

Here are a few pictures that haven't been posted yet, before I go back to, well, kind of studying for the last final. It shouldn't be all that hard, but best to be prepared, right?

Father and son :) My favorite boys.

Isaac with his favorite toy of the moment: books
That's all for now! Maybe I will post more once I am officially free (tomorrow at 10!!!). And maybe, if I remember, I will round up some pictures of Isaac from daycare for a nice review of the term. They have lots of nice pictures.

a little horse

So we thought Isaac was getting really sick on Wednesday when it appeared he had lost his voice. We went in to get him checked out and found out that there are extended hours to see a pediatrician with PeaceHealth. His weight was 17 lbs 14.4. ounces now so I was very happy to see that he had gained some weight finally. He ended up not having anything more than a cold, but since Papa had been diagnosed with pneumonia we felt better having him checked out.

Then, yesterday, Isaac was doing the "I lost my voice" thing in the evening, and all of a sudden I realized that he was putting on an act. He was just playing around with the parameters of his voice and had figured out how to make it sound like he had lost his voice. Papa and I were cracking up when we realized that Isaac had fooled us. Then, as is our custom, we got it on video.

Here are a few pictures from the last couple of days. Papa and Isaac played with drums, necklaces, and thermometers.

And then they played some more today...

while Mama studied for her three finals!
We also went to Isaac's cousin's first birthday! It was so fun to see everyone. In fact, I brought my camera, but like so often happens, I forgot to bring it out and actually take pictures. All the cousins were adorable though, and you will just have to take my word for it. Little Malachai was the first person to pass out at his own party - I guess he partied a little too hard. :) It's hard to believe that Isaac is already halfway there himself! Now, back to studying... Oh wait, there is a fun story first.

As we went to get Malachai's present, some girl turned around when she saw Isaac and said to the guy she was walking with, "Look, that baby has a ballin' hat like me! He is soooo cute." (side note, ballin' = cool) Then she looked back again and called to Papa and I, "Did you guys make him?" Papa replied, "Yeah." She said, "Good work!" It cracks me up when people see your baby and say "Good work" or the equivalent. It's just so awkwardly funny.

diapers

Let's cut to the chase - what disposable diapers do you use? Huggies Pure and Natural size 3 isn't cutting it overnight.

giving?

Isaac is most definitely not feeling so hot this morning. Do I skip school? Oh, there are so many things to do today... I am feeling extremely conflicted. First of all, we can't actually bring him to daycare if he's sick. Secondly, if there is any time this week where I really need to go to school, it's tomorrow, so I might need to save my potential "leverage" of - well, I can't really miss clinic if it's not me who's sick... for then. But today we were going to meet about my research, and I hate missing neuro lecture, AND it's the last day of autism class. Plus we have to work on clinic paperwork. Oh dear. I really wish all the school stuff could just put itself on hold for a day. Can today be Sunday again? Please?

thanks

Thank you, God, for standing...
for family... (I hope Papa gets better very very soon)
for light...

for naps with Mama....
for visits with the Troxels...

for Auntie Anna leaving some shirts at Nana's house so I could have an emergency change of clothes last night... (yes, it says "This kid is salmon powered")
for clean laundry...

and for bananas. Actually, I'm not sure about the bananas. They taste kind of funny... so thank you instead for Nana so she can let me try new things.

I grow old... I grow old...

"...I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled.
Shall I part my hair behind?
Do I dare to eat a peach?
I shall wear white flannel trousers and walk upon the beach.

I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

I do not think that they will sing to me..."

~a little excerpt from one of Mama's favorite poet's works.
Today I missed my Mama very much when I was at daycare. My heart was sad. She came and took me home for two hours between her classes and then I was happy again. We walked in the warm sunshine without coats and enjoyed life together. I can't wait until she is done with classes so we can have more beautiful days together like today.
Let's end my post today with another beautiful line from a different poet that Mama doesn't know as well but is probably more famous, and is just as true in its own, poetic, way:
"i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart) "

life of the party at six months

Hey everyone. My name is Isaac and this is my blog and today I am six months old. I probably don't actually remember what happened yesterday in great detail, but let's pretend I do.
I sat on the couch (with Papa very close by, of course, but don't tell anyone) by myself.
I slept in my cradleboard during my one and only nap of the day, which surprised my mama.
Usually I take at least two naps. But yesterday, I knew there was some partying to do before I turned six months. So, Mama made some Swiss Pancakes and we brought them to a food party with her friends from school. It was fun and everyone loved me because everyone was from the Early Intervention program or on the same grant as Mama, meaning they love babies. We stayed out pretty late, so I only got 10 hours of sleep last night instead of my usual 12. The only downside was that I didn't actually get to eat any of the food at the food party.
But, I was still awake and ready to have fun today! Unfortunately, Papa wasn't because he's feeling sick. He has an interview on Tuesday in Eugene so you should all pray that he does well so we can spend more time together. If you don't pray, send good vibes. If you don't do that, well, that's silly. I guess then I will force you to pray if you don't send good vibes. Mama and I went to church together today and saw my cousins. I like going to church because there is nice singing and there are always lots and lots of interesting people to look at.

When 3:30 pm had come and gone, I decided that it was time to bring back up some of the old tricks from back in the day, six months ago. I started sucking on my upper lip.

And it wasn't because I was hungry. Although, in case you were wondering, here is a picture of my favorite food. I'm not sure why this picture does not focus even more on my food, but oh well. Maybe Papa took it. He isn't feeling so good, so he might have been a little confused about exactly where to focus. I'll give him some pointers for next time.

So, most of the day, I got to crawl around and pull myself to a stand on various things. Mama's leg, for example. My outfit got a little dirty by the end of the day and now Mama is trying to figure out what to do about the dirty carpet, since she just vacuumed it yesterday and doesn't want to shampoo it because of the chemicals, whatever those are. I say if something is dirty, you should clean it. Like me. I had a great bath tonight before going to bed.
Oh, of course Mama could not stop taking pictures of me. She really needs to get a life. Nah, she just needs to play with me all the time. Or I'll crawl into the kitchen and make farting noises with my mouth. Or I'll suck on my upper lip. And that's a threat.
