snow day

We had a snow day again today - the second one this year! Isaac was so excited to go outside and play in the snow. It took him awhile to realize that he needed to actually wear clothes to go out, but we finally convinced him. It's a good thing we went out in the morning too, because although it snowed more, by the afternoon the sun had come out and most of the snow had melted away. People are predicting another snow day tomorrow but I think really it's just that people are wishing they won't have to go to work. :) Today's snow was quite wimpy, to say the least. Nevertheless, it was fun!

We weren't sure how the snow would impact Papa's commute, but everything turned out okay for him. We'll see about tomorrow. Let's hope there's no ice!

Here are Isaac and Papa playing soccer this evening.

And here is what they evidently did last weekend when I went to see "The King's Speech" with my CDS friend Antonia! (The movie was good by the way! But don't bring your kids, they do curse in it.) Isaac is such a big help.

On the eating front - ah yes, I haven't posted it here yet... On Monday we went to get Isaac's weight checked and it was 24 lbs 4 oz. That means that overall he didn't gain any weight in the last 3 months. So, we are in the process of making an appointment with the CDRC feeding clinic (here in Eugene). It's just a precaution at this point, the way I see it, but hopefully it will help make sure he starts eating well! I went with him to daycare today right before lunch, so stayed with him for lunch. The options on his plate were: bean burrito, coleslaw (admittedly not my favorite), applesauce, sour cream, and sweet potatoes. If you guessed that he only ate the sour cream, you're right! The other three kids at his table had at least 4 helpings of applesauce a piece. Isaac wouldn't touch his. So... he has very refined tastes, I guess! Any suggestions? Maybe he's just taking after his godfather. :)

a February wedding

We went to a wedding on Saturday! I think it's so romantic to get married close to Valentine's day. Why didn't we think of that? Instead ours is at the end of March... Well, I guess there isn't much else to celebrate at the end of March, except a whole bunch of family birthdays! So, maybe that's not bad either. Boompa's mama and papa were married on February 14th. I've heard of other people getting married on that day, but not sure if there are any others in the family. Anyways, this was on the 12th, but still, that's pretty close! So, here are some pictures and a little video. Isaac was really pretty good most of the time, except for about an hour where he got cranky. But, he perked right up again and enjoyed himself until we had to leave. We also got to see Auntie Anna and baby London, and Louisa and Isaac's godparents and baby Josephine and a whoooooooole bunch of other cousins. I just thought of listing them all out then realized that might be a very very long list. Just think of people who should have been there for Eric (Nana's cousin)'s wedding, and you'll probably get a good idea.Isaac had fun dancing with Malachai though.

If you were hoping for pictures of the bride and groom... I think you know where to look, if you were there! My camera didn't work so well. Sorry... But the bride was gorgeous!

child labor

Isaac has been such a big helper lately, that it almost feels like illegal child labor. On Sunday, he not only helped Mama dig in the garden, but reminded her to bury the compost. And, Papa brought home a new tool for Isaac from Goodwill. It is just the right heaviness. Together, they can accomplish a lot!

/biwowə/ (bee-woah-wuh) = leafblower

This is not actually about a leafblower, but ever since I figured out what the beewowuh was I am very pleased with myself. Needless to say, Isaac is obsessed with leafblowers. This is about a funeral and a Super Bowl. Friends, family, food, an excellent eulogy, crying, dancing, the works.

Last Saturday, we went to Aunt Odie's funeral. Her real name was Rose Marie. I have no idea how we got Aunt Odie out of that. Her direct descendents do not call her Grandma Odie. She was my dad's mom's sister. If she would have made it two more months, she would have been 100! I guess that's been one of the things with family members who have passed away more recently - they have been older, so it is sad, but it is more okay too. Aunt Odie really did take advantage of her time on earth to be kind, thoughtful, and positive with everyone around her.

It was great to see the whole family too! Here's Uncle Mikey.

Boompa, Nana, and Boompa's siblings and their spouses. I could have posted more but some of them didn't turn out.

And more family.

The cute boys at home.
So handsome!
We went to a Super Bowl party at out friends Ben and Katie's house. Isaac had fun playing with all their kids, when he wasn't being possesive of toys... Aurora especially liked to play with Isaac! It's crazy that she was only a little over a year old at our wedding!

Isaac found a buddy in Freeman, who is just learning to walk (at 8.5 months!) His walking style reminds me a lot of Isaac learning to walk: the "just go for it even if you fall over ALL the time" style.
We tried to get a picture of them hugging but it was a little too difficult to coordinate.

I made flan in 3 ramekins. It was cute. And it tasted decent too! (This is one of them on a small plate.)

And here is a picture of Isaac, which he is calling "all gone!"

Men and boys' dance party: home edition. Yes, we have been letting Isaac run around a lot without his pants on, even though it is winter. But, it works wonders for the potty training! Don't worry, I think this video only shows little legs.

We're off to a wedding today!

all that you want

... is to see all the pictures I missed sharing with you while my camera dock was missing. :)

Wish granted.

And, yes, Isaac really is using the potty!!! He has been peeing in it in the evenings regularly. Granted, we have him run around with only a shirt, but he is good at getting right in there when he needs to go and going in the right spot. Perhaps, if he keeps it up, we can add something that's really easy to pull down next week. Maybe. I'm not sure how this whole potty training thing is supposed to go but that would be my bet. Ooh, I guess I'd have to teach him how to pull down the underwear though. Well.... we'll see!
A little time with the manger scene at church (yes, we are backtracking to Christmas - but I just took down the lights and decorations this week, so I guess it's fitting).

New Year's Eve, we had to do something, so we went downtown to ride the EmX to Springfield and back. It's free. Isaac got a very special treat. He got to sit with the bus driver and toot the horn. He was so happy!

Then, the next day (1/1/11), our first cousin (on Mama's side, of course - Isaac has plenty of cousins on Papa's side) London was born and we went to visit.

Tiny baby London Reese.

The sweet little miss.

Isaac got a bike helmet to wear with his tricycle. Which for some reason reminds me that he has learned to say "motorcycle". And he says all the syllables. Way to make your SLP-to-be mama proud, Isaac. Although we are a little sad since he just said it in French before, but surely he will learn that you can say "moto" or "motorcycle". Either way. He was on his bike yesterday saying "vrooom vroom" then "moto-cycle". Actually, I think it became more like "moh-so-cy-ko" but that's not bad! His name is still "ai-ih" though. Final consonant deletion... sigh. (I don't know though, he does say "lights" with the /ts/ at the end... I guess it's just something with the name. Maybe he's waiting until he can say it perfectly.)

Then, we lost the opportunity to document 3-4 weeks of Isaac's little life. Very sad. But, last weekend we got the camera battery charger back and now life is great. We also visited baby London. She is one month old now! Auntie Anna's friend Christi and her little sister Cailin came to visit, and Cailin loooooooooved holding baby London. I guess she wants a little sibling, but someone has to be the baby of the family. She has gotten so big since I last saw her (both Cailin and London). London is really packing on the pounds! She definitely felt a lot heavier this time and she was much more alert than just 2 weeks ago.
Baby London with her godfather-to-be and cousin.
And finally, the boys playing drums together the other night! ("dum" as Isaac calls it)
There, I hope you feel all caught up now. I certainly do! And I'm so happy that I can take more pictures now!
