stand up for your rights

Isaac had a lot of fun with Uncle Mike and Auntie Sarah this weekend. He drove them around and showed them all his favorite places.

His mama is dumb and didn't get a picture of all of them together. She can't believe she didn't do that.

Isaac is standing now! Check it out!

Also, one really cute story - evidently the little girl in daycare (the one that kissed Isaac before) went over to him the other day and said, just once, "Isaac!" They couldn't get her to say it again though. I guess she gets shy like that.

do the wave

Yesterday, I noticed Isaac started waving at people! He waved at my friend Mary when she came over to work on school stuff, and then this morning when I dropped him off at daycare, he waved goodbye to me! Then, today when Mary left (okay, we have been working on school stuff quite a bit lately...) he waved byebye to her! We thought we should get this on video, so we did. It's a little awkward because I was holding Isaac as I tried to record the video, so the framing of the subject could have been a little better.. but you can see the basic idea!

Sarah and Mike are coming in about an hour!! I'm looking forward to this weekend, although I still have a ton of stuff to do!

Hooray for Isaac's first big communicative gesture! I think he definitely receptively understands bye-bye now, and maybe 'hi'. He definitely recognizes his name and chooses to listen to it most of the time. It's so exciting to me that he can kind of "say" something now.

in the crib!

Luckily, Isaac and Papa are both skinny so they can wear the same coat when they go out together!

Isaac slept in his very own bed this Monday night and every night since then he has been sleeping there at least part of the night. I was worried that he wouldn't like it but he seems to be quite happy, as you can see below! He is a little sick right now, but we went to get him checked out and he does not have an ear infection, just a sore throat. However, he is 19 lbs 1.5 oz now! Yay! So now I can call him a 19-pounder.

princess milkbreath

"La 'princesse' haleine de lait"

The other day we went to the library to find some good books, and someone commented that Isaac was a "little princess." They then corrected themselves, "Oh, uh, prince?" Yeah.... I guess that just means he's pretty? I was carrying him like so, which may have sparked the comment.

He even makes Papa carry him like that though.

Isaac's first tooth has definitely broken the surface all the way across now, and I tried to get pictures.
And I tried.
And I tried some more.

So I took a video, hoping you could catch a glimpse of it.

I don't think it shows up. :( But, you can see him talking. And here below is a video of Isaac with a new borrowed safer push-toy. The wind is really howling outside so hopefully our power doesn't go out right now. It's been flickering the past few minutes..

Does anyone else have names they call their babies that are kind of mean but kind of not because you only use it in a joking way? I call Isaac "milkbreath" from time to time because sometimes his breath just smells so good - like milk. Usually it goes like this:

Mama: "Hey there milkbreath."

Isaac: "Hahahaha" (breathing out more milkbreath)

schedule

Isaac got ahold of my clinic schedule and this is what he thinks of it.
Lately, I'd have to say I agree. It's not that it's not fun and interesting and intellectually stimulating, it's just still a lot of effort for me since I still have so much to learn. Oh, and it is busy. Really busy.
Old picture from that Civil War game the Beavers won. They gave Isaac these cheering things as we left. Don't worry, he didn't use them during the game. He was rooting for the right team.

Here's Isaac and I standing together. I think it's fun to pretend he can stand.

And here he is taking his first drink from his silver cup Papa's brother's in-laws sent him.

I realize this post is a little crazy, like my schedule, but here is one last video of Isaac playing with this toy we borrowed from Aunt Christy a few weeks ago. It was very susceptible to tipping backwards though, so we thought we'd better give it back until he was ready. He loved it though, and I think he was a little disappointed when we exchanged it.

Go Beavs!

Isaac went to his first Beavers game tonight, compliments of Papa's co-worker, whose husband is an assistant coach. It was the men's basketball Civil War game here in Eugene, and, as you can guess, we dressed in orange and black and headed over there. The first time there was a loud cheer, Isaac started crying, but after that, he really got into the game! (Okay, I'm bummed because the video I wanted to upload is just a little bit too big... How sad.) Oh, and we won.

water boy

Happy New Year 2010!

There may be a little baby bottom in this video. Hopefully it is an appropriate amount of baby bottom. If not, please let me know!
