So, we went to Seattle last weekend - I feel a little bad that we didn't visit everyone (like Stasia!) but we went by train, so we didn't have a car this time to get around. Not that that is really an excuse since there is public transportation, but this mama was kind of tired. The train was a fun experience though! The first three hours on the way up were the hardest because Isaac of course has no concept of space and time, so he kept asking, "Are we getting off now?" This started before Albany, so I was a little worried we would have a breakdown, but after Portland everything went just fine.
Waiting for the train
We saw this freight train loaded with tanks pass by as we waited for the train. I wonder where they were going.
We decided to have dinner in the dining car on the way up. Ridiculously expensive, but good for the experience just once.
We got to Seattle and Great-great (fantastic) Aunt Kathy picked us up. We stayed with Fantastic Aunt Kathy and Fantastic Uncle John for the weekend. Thanks for hosting us! Isaac really really liked their dog, Tessa. They got along really well. Isaac even got to try to walk Tessa. She is a cute little dog - not jumpy and pretty low-key!
We also saw ducks on our walk.
The main purpose of our trip was to attend a baby shower that weekend for baby Michael (Mike and Kayleen, aka "The Godparents"). Isaac loved playing with Louisa and little Josie. Here he is giving Josie a hug.
And we got a picture of everyone! I guess I didn't get enough pictures of the cousins together. Auntie "The Godmother" Kayleen got some really nice ones though and put them on Facebook!
After a nice weekend, we took the train back to Eugene. It was better on the way back. Probably next time we go to Seattle though, we will drive so we can say hello to more people!
Looks like a fun trip!
