Isaac's cousin Malachai came over yesterday, then through a series of extensions of the stay, we all decided it would be fun for him to spend the night. This was Isaac's first "spend-the-night" experience of the sort.
They really get along well. It is quite impressive. It seems like with other kids Isaac plays with, he gets tired of it after about 2 hours and gets cranky. Maybe it is because Malachai is such an easy-going and cool guy.
They played the "Busytown" game, which I think is really cute. They did okay following the rules on their own. Malachai came over earlier this week and we all played it together. I thought it would be fun to see what they did on their own. Malachai was really good at looking for the little pictures. Isaac (kind of) helped bring up the rules when necessary. Sometimes. They had fun anyway.
Isaac took all the following pictures.

After the above picture, Malachai mooned the camera. Don't worry, I deleted that picture. Those kids cracked me up though. They were always doing something or another silly.
They really enjoyed playing with the superhero dolls Malachai brought to share. Lots of "Batman and Robin" games were played throughout the stay. Also lots of wrestling and playing outside.

We weren't sure how it would be for Malachai, but it turned out to be Isaac that had issues...We had both of them sleep in the same bed (one of the larger ones) so we thought that would be fine for Isaac, since he is used to sleeping in the same bed as someone else. He woke up though and complained that he was "all alone." "Isaac, how are you alone? Malachai is there!" He was upset that there was "no adult" upstairs. So I went upstairs and luckily Sonia did fall asleep, although of course we were in the other room. Then around 1:30 a.m., I heard this completely lame crying, but it didn't stop.....And if you think I am a bad mama for describing my child's crying as completely lame (and unwarranted), you should come listen to it some day. It is pretty fake 90% of the time. The fact that it continues must be in some way our fault as parents. But I digress. I finally went in there and said, "Isaac, what is the matter? Why are you crying?" "There is no adult here!" he sobbed. He had to say this multiple times because I couldn't understand the pathetic mumbling, and I told him I couldn't understand him when he talked like that. Finally I said, "Look, I will go get your papa to sleep on the top bunk. But if you cry like that any more I will put you outside." He stopped crying. Poor Malachai (who is a really good sleeper) was awake, but he went back to sleep. Papa came up and slept on the top bunk. Apparently he went back downstairs after he thought Isaac was asleep and tried to finish watching a movie, but Isaac came back down to get him. Then this morning, a little before 7 a.m., he comes to me and says he is done sleeping. Aaargh. So naturally he took a nap today. Hopefully tonight it will be much better on Isaac's part. But Malachai did fine.
It was a fun spend-the-night! Isaac will need to mature a little bit though before having another one.
